Shijo Kokkattu is a 30 year old (as of 2011) teacher from the state of Karela in India. He taught at Raafainu School on Raa Atoll in the Maldives for two years before being deported from the country. He was persecuted for owning a Bible and a rosary in the Muslim nation of the Maldives, in which the law states that it is illegal to be a Christian and illegal to possess Christian writings. He was also accused of teaching his Christian faith in the school. As a result of this, he was arrested for around two weeks, and deported back to his home country of India. He tried to be a Christian in a nation in which Christianity is not allowed, and for that he is very brave. He truly displays the Christian spirit through what he did, and obeyed the Lord by trying to spread the faith.
